Gazes, gestures and bodily tensions become thresholds between self-image and external perception, control and vulnerability. The works do not seek to explain people. They preserve their contradictions and leave the encounter to the viewer.

Rainer Neuwirth was born in Horn in 1987 and lives in Ybbs an der Donau. His self-taught artistic practice began in 2026. In drawings and paintings, he focuses on portraiture and the human figure as carriers of psychological and social experience.
Rainer Neuwirth examines the moment when outward bearing meets inner experience. His figures appear controlled yet vulnerable, present yet withdrawn. Ink, felt-tip pen, gouache and compressed colour contrasts give them a direct, charged presence. The portraits do not explain their subjects. They leave contradictions unresolved and make room for encounter.
